Mifflin County School District

Your a Grand Old Flag
Well anyone can see the front page of the Sentinel , and read the controversy over the American flags at the school district.

I read this article with an open mind and tried to be as objective as I could. Mr. Schucht and Mr. Wade whom have apparently taken on the role of activists, are behind the most recent controversy. Demanding a resignation, and questioning patriotism of high ranking officials with reckless abandonment. I find it utterly tasteless that these “activists” feel they have the right to question anyone’s patriotism at all, as they themselves in my opinion needs to sit in on one of the flag etiquette lessons they are so passionate about.

Instead of writing letters, demanding resignations and questioning patriotism for an entire decade, perhaps they could have done something really patriotic and taken up a collection to pay for new flags, or even buy them. Instead of that however, they sit in one another’s office and cook up letters and continue to complain without progress. The small mindedness these men are exhibiting is the exact problem with our area. They like to point out the problem but they aren't smart enough to come up with the solution.

Maybe the brothers in arms could have visited some of the graves of our fallen soldiers, taken up collection for some of the local injured in Iraq. Being the “activists” that they are however they insisted on writing letters for an entire decade without seeing results.

I myself have personally seen the children at local schools unfold the flag, place it on the line and raise it every morning. When the day is through the same children walk back outside and properly fold the flag back up and take it inside. I have seen these children do this on rainy days, windy days and even frigid cold days when not even your dog should be left outside. Year in and year out. Instead of discussing this and talking about REAL patriotism these activists feels they can try and ruin anyone they would like.

Lady’s and gentlemen I ask you, who is the real patriot here?

Help me, Help you

I found living between these mountains my whole life to be relatively enjoyable. I find the area suitable to raise a family. I find the cost of living relatively low. I find a lot of things, and still not much at all.

I find we continue to elect the wrong people for the wrong jobs for the wrong reasons. I find that very few of the persons in politics and powerful jobs in this county are really doing it for the right reasons.

If one thinks this is all smoke an mirrors, take a look at what recently happened. One of the biggest employers leaves our area ( New Holland). The workers are left with little pay, lots of bills and no hope. Our so called leaders tell us more of the same. " We are really upset about this. We really want to get to the bottom of what happened."

Still though, most of our officials stumble out of their offices with a dazed look in their eye and ask what happened. HAVE NO FEAR HOWEVER, it is election season. So we will now begin to hear what proactive steps are going to be take to right the wrong. Take this county into a new direction...... THAT'S WHERE I COME IN!!!!

I'm so sick of hearing all of the BULL.... I've lived in this county my whole life. I KNOW who is going to help and who needs a job. I KNOW the REAL Mifflin County and I'm not afraid to expose it.

My political affiliation shouldn't matter. My name is not needed either. What should matter is that I'm one man willing to make a difference helping you make the right decisions on election day and tackling the various social issues facing us today.
